Lululemon Athletica Ski Fit Series

This Tuesday night, Chicks with Stix, in collaboration with Lululemon Athletica, held a free Ski Fit Session at their Chapel street store in Melbourne. Former Olympic snowboarder, turned personal trainer, led the class and absolutely killed it. We had such a good turn out that there almost wasn't enough room to fit us all in the store. Joh, took this challenge by the horns and succeeded in having us all with burning quads and red cheeks by the end of the class.

We were joined by Katya Crema (Olympic Ski-Xer), Belinda Price (VIS aerial team director) Nat Segal (Chicks with Stix Coach) plus a whole lot of other enthusiastic faces.

This was just an introduction to Lululemon's Ski Fit Series, which will officially start on the first Tuesday in July and continue through the month, each Tuesday night from 6.30-7.30pm. The classes are free and you don't need to be a skier or snowboarder to attend. Anyone looking for motivation to get off the couch should come along.

Hope to see you there in July
x
Anna

who will be the luckiest chick of them all ?!

We already mentioned that ski brand Armada will be partnering with Chicks with Stix this season and supplying us with some great prize packs, for our lucky athletes.

PLUS ARMADA Skis have announced they will be offering a 12 month sponsorship deal to one lucky rider at the end of the program.  Both CwS and ARMADA Skis are committed to the progression of women’s freeskiing in Australia, and with this great partnership we are going to find Australia’s next talent during the 2011 season.

Andreas Gloor Team Manager of ARMADA Skis in Australia said "It’s fantastic to see a program run by passionate skiers for passionate skiers in Australia. The Chicks with Sticks program is the perfect environment for girls of all ages to get out and have fun while learning from Australia’s, and the world’s best women athletes.”

(we agree !!!)

“For us, this partnership is not only a great way to give something back to the ski community, but to also give the opportunity for an up-and-coming girl to get one step closer to reaching their dream of becoming a professional skier.” said Andreas

As part of this opportunity ARMADA Skis are putting forward a full head-to-toe package including skis, poles, softgoods and one of the first releases of the new ARMADA women’s outerwear kits in 2012.

thanks Armada......

cant wait !!!

SheJumps: Coaching with Boys and Girls Club

Based in Salt Lake City, Utah, SheJumps is a non-profit dedicated to increasing female participation in outdoor activities. Their goal is to mentor, teach, and build a community for women enjoying open air recreation, whether the women are newcomers to outdoors sports or professional athletes.

- Sarah Newhall

This year, SheJumps launched a program in collaboration with the Boys and Girls Club over the month of March. The Boys and Girls Club is a nation-wide program which focuses on inspiring and enabling the youth in the community, especially those who need it most, to become caring and responsible individuals through guidance-oriented adult relationships and engagement in a variety of enriching activities within a safe environment.

I was privileged enough to coach for one of the four Saturdays in March, where the a group from the Boys and Girls Clubs came up to ski with several of the SheJumpers for the day at Alta.

I spent the day skiing with Shanny and Hilary, exploring Alta and teaching them few fun facts about skiing, powder snow and how to get around on the flats.

Shanny working hard to get across the flats

 Hilary working hard at skating

I was so amazed at the girls ability to ski and enjoy everything about it. Hilary skied a little when she was a girl and Shanny had only skied a few days and both of them made great turns and improved super fast. I was so proud of them and so happy to be involved with girls that were passionate about learning.

After skiing all day, the group chilled out and got ready to dig into the massive cookie cake that the Alta Peruvian Lodge had made for Hannah Whitney's birthday.

 hoorah!

some of the kids swapping stories about there mad skiing skills
 dig in!

For more info about SheJumps or The Boys and Girls Club, check out their websites!

Thanks to all the sponsors and volunteers who donated their time and care- it was a really great program to be involved in.
